Greatest Sibling Rivalry - PRAMOD MAHAJAN shot by his own brother PRAVIN

Consider the following un-related shooting incident in comparison with the news of Pramod Mahajan being shot by his younger brother Pravin at point blank range three times.

In 1967, M.R. Radha shot MGR and the bullet lodged in the head near the ear. MGR survived, but the bullet was not removed, as it would endanger his life. MGR became a legend, even though in his movies his dialogues were slurry.

    The famous ‘Soda Kudi’ in Tamil (Drink Soda), becomes an obscene word if uttered by MGR.

The shooting was not due to politics (both belonged to Dravidian movement) or Film Profession. It was personal and over a duel who was more popular and cause for the success of the films in which both acted. M.R. Radha always takes the role of a villain, but his acting captured more audience.

Why do I talk about the above fact for Pravin’s attempt on his own elder brother Pramod Mahajan comes later in the end.

There are political murders like Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and the Mahatma in this non-violent country. (Let’s not talk about the bahu Sonia Gnadhi now; I think it would be totally off topic and also a total wast of time and energy)

And the religious one - famous Sankararaman inside the Varadaraja Perumal temple last year. The Jagadguru Kanchi Jayendara Swamigal was framed for that murder and the case is pending in the court. Many people have their own opinions on Jayendara Swamigal, good, bad and ugly. But many believe that he is innocent and he need not have and will not choose a temple for murder, even if claimed by some.

And then there are many more murders and encounters in this country.

But the Pramod Mahajan’s one shocked me. His own brother, Pravin, 10 years younger shot Pramod three times at point blank range. And Pramod is still in critical condition as of latest news (3.45 p.m. 25 th April, 2006).

The news and other media are all busy about Pramod Mahajan’s shooting and having a good time to cover the 24 hours time.

My points and doubts are:

  • If Pravin was so poor and claims that his powerful political brother Pramod worth 2000 crores, did not help financially or at point of time in his life – Where did he get the pistol? It’s not so easy to get a pistol unless you have money or power.

  • Pravin claims Pramod helped all the other friends, colleagues in the party except him. Is Pravin not old enough to build his own life and feel ashamed to make statements that his brother did not help him? Compare this with the Ambani brothers’ fighting and how both are becoming powerful and successful individually.

  • Pravin’s advocate says that Pravin is mentally ill. If that is the case why Pravin should go personally and surrender to the police?

  • Pramod became very popular due to his enthusiasm, energy and always keeping the Press and Media happy. He was even loved and appreciated by the Opposition. They compare him to Rajiv Gandhi who brought computer era to India. He was looked upon as the future Prime Minister, even though BJP has enough leaders of Pramod’s caliber, unlike the Congress, which has Nehru and his family to lean on. May be all this caused the oldest rivalry according Sigmund Freud – THE SIBLING RIVALRY. But even this is not convincing. There seems to be a conspiracy.

  • The Moguls, European kings had killed fathers, brothers and sons to attain the throne. Our own epic Mahabaratha is nothing but a fight between cousins for throne, though it has a deep philosophy hidden – Advaita. But in this case there is no such thing. Then what is the real cause?

  • The wife of Pravin, who shot Pramod wanted to meet Pramod Mahajan’s family. This means their families were in constant touch and there was no previous news about complaint, rivalry and in-fight within the family. So this sudden act of shooting had been planned (Now the police had found out). Who was behind the plan? Only Pravin or outside forces afraid of Pramod’s popularity?

    • While I wait for the good news that Pramod recovers fully and like MGR becomes a legend and the Prime Minister of India. Even Muslim brothers are praying for his recovery, even though he belongs to the BJP, the so-called Hindutva ideological party. I feel only the BJP with leaders like Vajpayee and Pramod Mahajan can bring real peace with Pakistan and with our Muslim brothers.

    Dream Project - Naan Kadavul

    Having completed Tirupathi and also his long-pending God Father, Ajith is gearing up for his dream project Naan Kadavul, to be directed by Bala.

    The director makes a return to wield the megaphone after Pithamagan, which won for Vikram the National award for the best actor.

    Bala is reportedly busy at Podhigai Hills with his assistants giving a final shape to the story and script of Naan Kadavul.

    Ajith, after a brief vacation, would commence shooting of the movie.

    Meanwhile, Kollywood is abuzz with rumors that Bhavana has been chosen to play Ajith’s ladylove in Naan Kadavul.

    Impressed with her performance in Chithiram Pesuthadi, she has been given the task.
