Ben Johnson, SHOAIB, Steriods and SHOCK
I loved the sprint of Ben Johnson. I loved him even though he was proved positive for Drug (Anabolic Steroids).
I feel the same way with Shoaib Akhtar. I love him, his aggression, speed and his reaction style (like an aero plane flying).
I really enjoy the aggressive ‘Pindi Express’ and would love to see him bowl in the World Cup 2007. Just as the Pakistanis enjoy Tendulkar, my favorites are Shoiab Akhtar and Glen McGrath. Shoiab for speed and Glen for his accuracy. Once Boycott commented “You put a hankie any where in the pitch. And McGrath will hit the hankie 100 out of 100 times.”
Sure something is fishy and Shoaib has said he is innocent.
Sportsmen have always tried to excel and to achieve that, they fall a prey to latest inventions in science to improve stamina, aggression and win. Winning is important for them. Really I feel pity for them. Medical Science is the cause. Sure Gladiators would have used some form of dope.
According to New Indian Express today (October 17th, 2006) Box item on the front page Shoiab had written in his website column that he had been advised by Pervez Musharaff to refrain from commenting on the issue of ‘test of dope being proved positive’.
PCB has always been in trouble under the true dictatorship of their President.
Despite the turbulent history of Pakistan cricket, this latest scandal has rocked the cricket establishment to its core and may well signal the end of Shoaib’s career, a player many observers and critics regard as a flawed genius.
“He has had a lot of talent, but has always been a difficult person to deal with,” former test captain Javed Miandad told Reuters.
And Javed is notorious for his monkey action.
Miandad was in the team that went to the West Indies in 1993 and in Grenada, four players — Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Mushtaq Ahmed and Aaqib Javed– were arrested for possessing marijuana.
The PCB let them off with a minimum fine and a warning.
Miandad and Wasim have both also been victims of internal revolts against their captaincy.
Worse was to follow in early October, when Inzamam’s deputy Younis Khan stepped down as captain for the Champions Trophy saying he could not be a “dummy captain”.
One day later, PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan resigned and Younis was convinced by the new chief to take back the captaincy.
The board itself has never been stable.
Run on the direct orders of the President on an ad-hoc basis since the 1999 World Cup, it has had five chairmen in the last seven years, appointed ten different captains and ten coaches in the last decade.

Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif, Pakistan’s fast bowlers, failed drug tests conducted by the Pakistan Cricket Board a day before their Champions Trophy opener against Sri Lanka.
Nandrolone, a banned substance which aids in muscle building, was detected in the players’ A sample. The B sample is still to be tested.
What exactly is Nandrolone?
Like Testosterone and Creatine, the amino acid that Juventus’s football team were alleged to use regularly in the 1990s, Nandrolone too increases muscle mass. It can also produce the same side-effects, like overly aggressive behaviour, as testosterone.
Clinical experiments have been conducted in the past to see its efficacy in the treatment of HIV-affected men and also for other diseases that cause muscle wastage.

Whatever the papers, websites and reporters say, I still want see “Rawal Pindi Express” bowl in the World Cup 2007 and I do not like any one interfering in that. (Rawal Pindi was once the capital pf Pakistan and then came Islamabad like Delhi and New Delhi). Not Islam Bad as in in the book by Pervez ‘The Lion of Fire’.
