Microsoft uses Hybrid drives from Samsung

Samsung’s first hybrid hard drives will be available for end-user purchase in a week’s time, although only a limited subset of customers with the latest hardware may be able to take advantage of them.

CMS Products has begun taking preorders of the new 160-Gbyte SATA 2.5-inch MH80 notebook drive on its Web site, for $299. A company sales associate said the drives should begin shipping at the end of next week, or by July 2 at the latest.

Samsung began sampling the drive to OEMs in March.
The new drive contains 256 Mbytes of flash memory, which is used as a “write cache” as part of Microsoft’s “ReadyDrive” initiative. The drives store data to be written on the flash cache, writing it all in one fell swoop when the cache is full. Writing the data all at once allows the laptop’s drive to only spin up when it needs to, instead of operating at full speed to write a few bits of data here and there.
The result is a somewhat longer battery life; overall, about 30 minutes, according to Samsung. However, the technology — which Samsung calls “ReadyBoot” cuts the drive’s power between 70 and 90 percent. Moreover, times to boot the PC and resume it from a hibernation state will be cut in half, according to the company.

Rajinikanth comedy scene

This video is really worth watching seeing Thalaiva enjoying his comedy with Cho. Rajini dies before his appointed day and happens to meet Yama Dharmaraja (Lord of Death). The dialogues are superb, sarcastic and Superstar performs very well.

Racism still exist

Well I got e-mail about two true incidents. Read both and judge.

The feelings of the person who sent, does not reflect my view

First incident:
I’m sure many of you watched the recent taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show where her guest was Tommy Hilfiger.

On the show, she asked him if the statements about race he was accused of saying were true. Statements like”…”If I’d known African-Americans, Hispanics, Jewish and Asians would buy my clothes, I WOULD NOT have made them so nice. I wish these people would *NOT* buy my clothes, as they are made for upper class white people.

“His answer to Oprah was a simple “YES”. Where after she immediately asked him to leave her show.

Feelings of the person who sent me the mail:
My suggestion? Don’t buy your next shirt or perfume from Tommy Hilfiger. Let’s give him what he asked for.
Let’s not buy his clothes, let’s put Him in a financial state where he himself will not be able to afford the ridiculous prices he puts on his clothes. BOYCOTT. PLEASE SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ANYONE YOU KNOW. Then send it to the whole community that’s not white people and see the result. We have to see the result of unity. Let’s find out if Non-whites really play such a small part in the world. Stop buying any range of their product, perfume, cosmetics, clothes, bags, etc.,

Second Incident
A Scene took place on a British Airways flight between Johannesburg and London

A White woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a black man. Obviously disturbed by this, she called the air Hostess.

“Madam, what is the matter,” the hostess asked. “You obviously do not see it then?” she responded. “You placed me next to a black man. I do not agree to sit next to someone from such a repugnant group. Give me an alternative seat.” “Be calm please,” the hostess replied. “Almost all the places on this Flight is taken. I will go to see if another place is available.” The Hostess went away and t hen came back a few minutes later.

“Madam, Just as I thought, there are no other available seats in the
economy class. I spoke to the captain and he informed me that there is a seat in
the business class. All the same, we still have one place in the first class.”

Before the woman could say anything, the hostess continued: “It is not
Usual for our company to permit someone from the economy class to sit in the
first class. However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would be
scandalous to make someone sit next to someone so disgusting.

” She turned to the black guy, and said, “Therefore, Sir, if you would like to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in first class.”

At that moment, the other passengers who were shocked by what they had just witnessed stood up and applauded.

To the second incident the sender of the mail had no appreciation for British Airways, Captain and the airhostess.

The sender ends the mail with:
If You are against racism, please send this message to all your friends; “please do not Delete it without sending it to at least one person”.

My comments:
Well there have always been Good and Bad people. There are enough white people who understand and fight for the rights and protection of the Black people. And there some like Tommy Hilfiger and the Old Lady on the flight who got a snub!

Harry Potter and Vikramaditya tales

In India we have tales of King Vikramaditya, which is not a fiction. But the stories in that are intelligent, frightful like Vedalam episodes. King Vikramaditya had a boon to rule for 1000 years. His perseverance, intelligence and clever minister are interesting.

Though I have not read Harry Potter (Oh! I am an idiot! I do not update myself on the latest things). But when I read the review of the Last Part of Book I had the feeling it much resembles King Vikramaditya tales.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series of novels by J. K. Rowling. Released globally in 93 countries at a minute past midnight (00:01), British Summer Time, on 21 July 2007 (2007-07-20 23:01 UTC), the book reached the top spot on both the Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble bestseller lists just a few hours after the date of publication was announced on 1 February 2007.

In the United States and Canada, the book was released for sale within each separate time zone at 00:01 local time, a few hours after other English-speaking countries.

Retailers such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Borders are reporting that more orders have been placed for this book than for any other in history and American publisher Scholastic announced an unprecedented initial print run of 12 million copies.

The Plot

The final book begins with Voldemort and his Death Eaters at the home of Lucius Malfoy. They are planning how to kill Harry Potter before he can be hidden again.

After borrowing Lucius’s wand, Voldemort kills his captive, Professor Charity Burbage, teacher of Muggle Studies at Hogwarts, for writing a collum in the Daily Prophet about co-existing with Muggles and suggesting that the end of pureblooded wizards was a good thing.

Apple: Getting Inside the iPhone

iPhone arrived at 6 p.m. on June 29.

Apple’s marketing machine made it sure every media talked about it.
It costs $500 to purchase an iPhone and PCMAG staff bought one and ripped open the iPhone and revealed its marvelous technology and features.

iPhone not only revealed the partnerships Apple has established with parts suppliers, including ARM, Samsung, and Skyworks, but also confirmed that Apple engineers must be capable of solving Rubik’s Cubes in their sleep, as the manufacturing and assembly of the iPhone is an engineering marvel.

Apple has pushed the limits of miniaturization in the highly dense boards that compose the iPhone’s brain.
Sources in the know have also disclosed that Apple has three manufacturers producing the iPhone’s innovative touch screen: Optera, Opterex, and Sharp.

With demand for the iPhone expected to be steady for the rest of the year in the U.S., and with a European rollout of the iPhone planned for sometime in the fall, sources are almost certain that a touch-screen iPod is out of the question until the first half of 2008.

iPhone mania consumed even Apple itself, which was forced to divert considerable engineering resources and delay product releases including Leopard, which will belatedly arrive in October, and the next iMac, which was initially thought to launch in early June but is now not expected until late July at the earliest. The company may be forced to neglect its iPod line—already long in the tooth—for the rest of the year, as well.

In Europe, reports from various media outlets have pegged O2 as the iPhone’s exclusive carrier in the United Kingdom, with T-Mobile landing the contract for Germany and Orange poised to get the nod in its home country of France. Analysts had long expected Vodafone, Europe’s largest wireless carrier, to score rights to the iPhone, although Think Secret sources noted a month ago that they were far from locking up the deal.

In a recent interview, Apple CEO Steve Jobs explained that the company’s decision to forgo 3G centered primarily around power-consumption concerns. Against that backdrop, it seems unlikely that Apple would release a 3G iPhone so soon after the phone’s U.S. debut, although Think Secret sources said earlier this year that Apple has been considering 3G for some time and that a future model will surely adopt that faster wireless protocol.

Features

1. It’s the best portable media player ever. It’s possibly the most fun we’ve ever had with a handheld device. It browses the Web like a champ. Yet as a voice phone and a messaging device, it’s a loser. The iPhone is full of contradictions.

2. Fun new interface for navigating multimedia. Huge screen looks amazing. Terrific Web browser. Syncs well with PCs and Macs. YouTube function is great. Functions flow seamlessly into each other. Built-in speaker for voice calling and music.

3. Poor business e-mail and PIM connectivity. Bad audio quality on phone calls. Tons of “GSM buzz” on nearby speakers. Virtual keyboard hard to type on. No phone functionality with iPod speaker docks. No FM radio.
