ATM facility in Indian Railways to be introduced

To enable passengers withdraw cash while travelling Railway Ministry is considering introduction of ATM facilities in trains.

To have ATM facilities in trains, a separate coach with adequate security is needed, The Railway Minister R. Velu said. At present, ATM facilities were available at select important stations, he added.

My comments:
While introduction ATM is a good idea, Railways should also provide shopping malls in important stations or attach another Massive Coach with Mall!

10 billion US dollars worth Defence budget by India – tender documents sold within minutes

Representatives of the bidders lined up outside south block and as soon indications were given of the tender, the required documents were collected in no time.

The tender is for purchase of Combat Aircraft.

Lockheed martin, one of the main contenders for the order, said the US government had received the request for proposal for the combat aircraft from the government of India.

“Lockheed martin will be supporting the US government in responding to the RFP”, said the company, which makes the world’s best-selling F-16s.

Though the armed forces have earlier issued huge tenders, like for Bofors guns, warships, submarines and tanks, Tuesday’s tender for the acquisition of aircraft running into a whopping Rs. 42,000 crores (approximately 10 billion dollars) is the biggest ever.

Bidders, who jumped promptly, included Boeing, which is placing its bid with the F-18/A super hornet. The Russian aircraft corporation also said it will be competing robustly.

Today had been a boring day…

Some of our days are just boring. Nothing happens.

1. My mobile phone was out of order. I went to the repair and service shop by 10 am. I was surprised to find out that all the shops in the Mall will open by 11 am only. I waited till 11 am, mean while doing window shopping on setting up aquarium, DVD shop and a bookshop. Nothing impressed me. And the mobile shop owner did not open the shop as he was busy in the hospital, expecting his wife to deliver a child.

2, I went to my close relative’s house. He gave me company and I had a nice lunch. But somehow I felt bored.
I came home and did some cleaning work. Prepared some coffee and got refreshed.

3. Sitting before a computer has never bored me. But today it is really tiresome.

I plan to take a cold shower and go out and refresh myself.

Is it because today is a Full Moon Day and the moon is causing some ebbs and tides in me? If I accept it is a boring, then I feel at peace.

I have not even opened the Newspaper today for reading! And there are news that Chennai and Bangalore is under threat from terrorists! When will they get bored?

Cola Wars

Cola Wars is the term used to describe the campaign of mutually-targeted television advertisements and marketing campaigns in the 1980s and 1990s between soft drink manufacturers Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola.

Coca-Cola and Pepsi focused particularly on rock stars; notable soft drink promoters included Michael Jackson (for Pepsi) and Paula Abdul (for Diet Coke).

In the late-1990s, Pepsi launched its most successful long-term strategy of the Cola Wars, Pepsi Stuff. Consumers were invited to “Drink Pepsi, Get Stuff” and collect Pepsi Points on billions of packages and cups. They could redeem the points for free, Pepsi lifestyle merchandise.

The Pepsi Stuff promotion became the subject of a lawsuit. In one of the many commercials, Pepsi showed a young man in the cockpit of a Harrier Jump Jet. Below ran the caption “Harrier Jet: 7 million Pepsi Points.” There was a mechanism for buying additional Pepsi Points to complete a Pepsi Stuff order.

John Leonard, of Seattle, Washington, sent in a Pepsi Stuff request with the minimum amount of points and a check for over $700,000US to make up for the extra points he needed. Pepsi did not accept the request and Leonard filed suit. The judgment was that a reasonable person viewing the commercial would realize that Pepsi was not, in fact, offering a Harrier Jet. In response to the suit, Pepsi added the words “Just Kidding” under the portion of the commercial featuring the jet as well as changing the “price” to 700 million Pepsi points.

Second Cola War

During the 1990s, a “second cola war” was reported in the United Kingdom.[citation needed] This time it was due to the launch of Virgin Cola, as well as Sainsbury’s store brand Classic Cola, which, unlike most store brand colas, was designed to look like a top product worthy of competition. For a few years both colas were competitive with Coca-Cola and Pepsi; at one point Coca-Cola even sued Sainsbury’s claiming the design of the Classic Cola can was too similar to Coke’s. However, today, both Virgin and Classic Cola are far behind the two major brands.
