Chennai slang Tamil and Nannan
Yesterday there was a program in Jaya TV showing Vivek speaking conversing with Abdul Hameed in Chennai slang.
It was just hilarious with Abdul Hameed speaking in pure Tamil and Vivek trying to teach words like ‘Naina’, ‘Eppadi Kire’, ‘Nashtha’, ‘Loves’, ‘Manja’ etc.
Just a few days back Nannan on Makkal TV was critizing people who had English ‘moham’.
But he was not informed . He said people for the sakeof fashion pronounce What’s ur name instead of ‘What is your name’, Bir-day instead of Birthday. Just like different Tamil dialects of Madurai, Nellai and Kovai English also has variety of dialects. English has over a 100 dialects spread across England and is the most mis-spect and pronounced language.
So Nannan instead of promoting Tamil was abusing people and English1
Compare this to a show on Jaya TV teaching English. I am in hurry is to be said as “I’m in-a-hury.” That is English.
Tamil can protect itself thanks to Tamils spread outside Tamilnadu and not Nannan who is fond of criticizing people and English language. The Nannan in DD many years ago was positive

The same Nannan in yesterday’s programme on Makkal TV ( 22.06.08) said those withh ‘mummy’ ‘daddy’ culture in Tamilnadu should be burnt alive or shot. I was shocked at the audacity of aman who thinks that he can do goog by advocating violence. Is ther any wasy of legal action possible against these kinds of persons? Could he have uttered such things when he was on Doordarshan in the olden days?

Nannan is the best person and trademark of Tamil language. What he commented need not be taken literally.
