it is atleast acceptable if ppl respect you for having reasonable money and knowledge...but nowadays ppl are respected only for their money....some ppl just don't possess enough knowledge and are not willing to put in the required effort...but want millions of dollars....nothing else matters....

well not only that.. this was predicted way earlier as the "kali yug" where materialism (money)becomes the new god!
who respects the learned men? u get respect only if you have money.
heck even u r relatives respect you only if you are in a good job, have a car, house etc....
brahmins are humans too... if they see that a value is given to money than to education.. then get money!
actually our vedas also say taht a brahmin(bachelor.. am not sure of marital sttus here ) shouldnt buy rice.. he should live in 'bikshai' , think that is possible et all???

It is not just the Brahmins but most of the middle/upper middle class indians wanted to leave the country and go to US, Singapore etc in search of a better job. It is as though their whole purpose of life is to somehow get out of this country. Such is the degree of love for motherland in this country. I dont blame them also, after all there were not many jobs available here until the late 90s
