Silent Revolution

If the urban man has the freedom in India to urinate in the public why do the women feel shy to use sanitary napkins in their private life? Traditionally the women use the old dirty clothes which are unhygeneic. And the enormous mental tension the teens undergo in schools and colleges is a curse on the Indian women. Sure Bharathiar did not see this private aspect in a women’s life. May be he too was chauvinistic.
I felt the happiest and felt the need to spread this message. A girls high school in Tamilnadu, near Chennai has installed a Vending Machine for Sanitary Napkins and it had been a success.

Silent Revolution.

KK Nagar Lanes

To enjoy driving and traffic pollution, I have a habit of finding lanes in my area to reach a friend’s place or do sundry shopping. I start early morning on an adventure. Sure I hate walking, with the city garbage stench in the air on the main roads and near the parks.

Recently I dropped my friend in his house in the peak hours of evening traffic. He was surprised when I went through the lanes and reached his house early and without using my horn or listening to the impatient horns of other drivers. He thanked me and said he would use the same route and did not know there was such a lane though he was living in the area for 20 years.
I feel happy in the morning when I venture out if there is no work, just to buy a different newspaper than the one I recieve. I was once even caught by a police at 5 am in the lane for security reasons. I had to explain patiently that my purpose was only to buy a newspaper.

Urban population have become irritable, impatient and insane due to pending appointments, shopping madness and wrong food habits. They have lost the sense of relaxing and the joy of riding. It is high time I get out of the city sans TV, Fast food joints and the blare of the horns. Recently the power cuts has made me superstitious. I must go for a Home with Power and other needs, dependent on Natural resources and alternative energy.

Chennai Brahmins

Cities in India become populated and famous by the temples, culture and trade around the area.
Chennai is famous for Kapaleeswara temple in Mylapore and Parthasarathy temple in Triplicane. The area  was full of Mangrove forests on the coast and mango forests in the area where I live.

Then came the British in the name of East India Company. They destroyed the main fabric of a classless and Dharmic society into a totally materialistic and an Anglo appeasing people. To a major extent this change from simple living to complex Westernised life style came thanks to the Brahmins community. Brahmins forgot the Manu Dharma and studied Law at Barrister not to earn money but gain false respect in the eyes of the English. This was due to fear of oppression by the English also. Instead of fighting they got defeated mentally first and people followed them. Learning English and doing the Office job was most respected. The other communities doing business labour and non-profit work started following the learned Vedic Pundits, the Brahmins. I am not, nor does the Vedanta say pursuing material end is a sin. But it should be balanced and spiritual pursuit gives supreme happiness, peace and knowledge and wealth also.
The Brahmins learned and started practicing Law of and for the British first and gained respect. Then they started earning and purchased lands and built big houses near Mylapore. Some became Judges and the others Vakil gumasthas. Some joined the big English firms like the Constructions, Audit, Chemicals, Medical, Trading, Importers and Textiles. Some joined Government offices and Police. Some companies had offices or factories in Bombay or Calcutta. They mingled with the English bosses and gained access to unhealthy habits of wine, women and gambling. These vices are looked down upon by the common man who knows the hidden meaning of Ramayana and Mahabharatha. Thus the city of temples had become a jungle of lust and disease with the Kali Purush being blamed. Before the Chennaites could even realize, The change in the past 10 years had completely made him run away from the city.

Most of the Chennai Brahmins migrated from the Holy Cauvery Banks. And the next generation migrated to the Western countries, Bombay and North India. Now the third generation Brahmins are into catering and conduction of marriage business on a contract business for the sons and daughters of the NRIs. Is the Learning of Vedas and Vedic way of Life dead? No, as the sense, respect and the knowledge that Vedas can protect itself and the One who protects it are still there. And people feel that donating money to Vedic Learning Centers is enough.
The Civilization of Cauvery will not come to Chennai or California. The man has to go the Cauvery in Tamilnadu or Karnataks to become a Brahmin. Forget the Chennai Brahmins. They wear and change only once a year, the Poonul or the sacred thread as the external additional garment.

Blog Success

One of the reasons for a Blog to be a success is writing regularly on topics that interests my visitors, but the writing has to be of my own. Though all the topics like Current News of the World and India cannot be covered, I have to be careful in choosing the topic and writing briefly and to the point. People have no time to waste reading the repeated news copied and pasted.
I hear Google has become more popular taking full advantage of the Beijing Olympics. They are professionals and can afford to pay to create new things. Blog success is to be rated by the number of visitors and their comments on the articles that I write. There comes a time when I cannot answer in person to each comment. As I have the freedom to write, my visitors have equal right to comment in whatever manner they think right.
Sometimes while writing I have to control my emotions and personal life interfering with a general topic. Some visitors are clever to recognize this and indicate that I have been vague.
I have not written anything for the past three days. Did I enjoy the Independence Day and the week-end? It has gone before I even realized. But the time spent was really good. I visited my close relatives and spent a nice time. And some more are going to visit my home in a short while. I already have plans to have some humour with them. And will have some nice Gujarathi starters like Dhokla, Dried Methi roti (Kakra). I got some nice Independent day messages on my mobile and e-mail. I admired the spirit and commitment of the Americans when I read the “Declaration of Independence”. To be free always brings the best in an individual and nation.
