Train Travel along West Coast

After a long time I will be travelling by train. The quality of coaches, sanitation and comfort has improved in the Indian Railways. There is a need for the passengers also to stick to the basics of cleanliness. Once an Australian who was travelling with me said that compared to the price of a ticket in International standards, the quality and service of Indian Railways is very good.  I did not ask him further and wondered if he had travelled in unreserved compartments!

My dream is to travel along West Coast by Konkan Railways (OK Indian Railways) from Mangalore to Mumbai. Lot of bridges, tunnels and natural beauty on the Western Ghats to see!
The excellent state of Indian Railways with the longest track and largest volume of traffic in the World is possible thanks to the engineers and good administrators. But Laloo wants to take credit for it all by giving full page Ads! There are lots of websites for the jokes played on Laloo and the Biharis too enjoy them like Sardarji and Pathan jokes.
1. Laallu, his wife Rabri and son traveled by a South bound train.
Laloo was ccupying the lower berth, Rabri the middle berth and his son the top most berth in the train compartment.
The train stopped at one of the stations on the way back and the son asked Laloo to bring him a Cadburys chocolate. When Laloo and his son returned they found that a South Indian who couldn’t understand Hindi had occupied his son’s berth.
Upset and angry, Laloo called the Ticket checker & asked him to help. The Ticket checker said that he could not understand Hindi or Bihari so it would be nice if Laloo explained the whole situation to him in English.
So Laloo explained, “That man sleeping on top of my wife is not giving birth”

2. India and Pakistan problem was successfully solved by our own Lalooji how:
During a meeting with the President of Pakistan, Lalooji told him that since u want Kashmir to be annexed to your country, “chalo hum aap ko aur ek freebie dethein hain…bihar bhi laylo” Mr.Musharaff immediately withdrew his demand for Kashmir.

3. Rabri Devi died and went to heaven (Don’t Laugh). As she stood in front of yamraj, she saw a huge wall of clocks behind. She asked, “What are all those clocks?”
Yamraj answered, “Those are lie Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock. Every time you lie, the hands on your clock will move.” “Oh,” said Rabri, “Who’s clock is that?” That’s Gautam Buddha’s. The hands have never moved indicating that he never told a lie.”And whose clock is that?” That’s Abraham Lincoln’s clock. The hands have only moved twice, telling us that Abraham only told 2 lies in his entire life.”
Rabri asked, “Where’s my Laloo’s clock?”
“Laloo’s clock is in my office”, replied yamraj, “I’m using it as a ceiling fan.

4. After having resigned as the CM of Bihar, Laloo decides to go modelling. Once he enters the herd of buffaloes and resting his elbows on the back of the cattle he poses for the photo.
Next day the photo appears front page of a newspaper. GUESS THE CAPTION !! Laloo, third from left!

New Windows 7

First there was bad command or filename during DOS days. Then lot of warnings and messages. Most of them related to low memory, virus attacks and bugs in the operating system and applications.

The robust hardware and abundant ram came next. And more GUI based applications. For some time I was happy with 98 and then XP. But what with Internet, worm attacks and spyware XP really could not help me.

I am happy with Vista as it is really stable. But it took some time for me to get tuned with Vista which is really user friendly.
But I feel I have lost control over the operating system, its secrets and working. I forgot editing for example a win.ini, registry or virtual memory settings. It was more thrilling to edit config.sys and autoexec.bat! Slowly the technology has moved away to the back or away from the common man to the experts. The users can concentrate on using and developing applications or just browsing.

Now with New Windows 7 to be launched for testing in 2009, there will be very few alerts and warnings! I really feel totally unsafe and unprotected. Sure I can do better things but I have to depend on Microsoft for ever with fewer GUIs competing.
Technology monopoly will remain a power of American companies though they may suffer now from an economic setback. But I can have some peace of mind from fewer system problems and can concentrate on more earning and entertaining options.

I had control of my health and body unto my middle age. But recently I have to depend on expert medical advice! Its all Global.

Types of Prayer and Rewards

Karma theory says the sufferings and joys of our Life are due to the conscious or otherwise thoughts, words and actions we have done.
Then what is the use of a Prayer? Is a Daily Prayer or One time Prayer enough? And once the prayers are answered should we continue praying?

In my Life I have observed that I pray from the depths of my belly, cry when I am in a difficult situation which I cannot handle. Sometimes I have prayed for others’ problems also. Very importantly I have cursed others in thoughts and words and I could not carry the same in action as I did not have the means, courage or afraid that what I was thinking was wrong.

So, all my prayers were self-cantered. The real prayer should be “Loka Samstha Sukino Bhavantu”, which is easy to talk and think, but to put in practice it needs His Grace. He may be Vishnu, Siva, Sakthi, Annai, Baba or any God dear to you.

Only recently I came to know that Prayer needs to be practiced and can range from a few minutes to hours daily and the reward of a Prayer can be felt every second.

Gounder Sivakumar on Vijay TV

Of all the movies, Patti Mandram and Star interviews on Tamil channels this Diwali, Gounder Sivakumar’s personal sharing of his life on ‘Mother, Wife and Daughter’ was touching and there were messages for me to stay happy, loving and lovable. Sivakumar had been a Tamil Cinema hero for decades and father of actor Surya.

His early childhood, his mother’s hard work and love towards him was emotionally narrated by Sivakumar. His Gounder Kongu Tamil dialect was very sweet to the ears. To him Diwali is not a celebration time, as all hard working days are Diwali for him. When he took a nice saree for his wife after fourteen years, she was surprised by the sudden change in his behaviour. His life is always punctual, sincere and he lives for his family. So a special need to buy a special saree was not expected by his wife. And how much does he love his two sons and a daughter!

Though it is common to see such kind of Love in the human lives throughout the world, a stage sharing by an actor is welcome. In show business, it is rare to see such a disciplined man. And he admitted for all his hardworking and punctuality, he was the most ill-tempered and angry man towards his wife! Though late in admitting, a welcome attitude.
Apart from his some years of his belief in atheism due to his contact with DMK in his early life, all his prayers were answered due to his Faith in Prayer. His speech has been released as DVD.
