Calorie Celebrations

The New Year has seen many people showing interest about physical fitness and calorie consciousness. But there have been a lot of festivals, marriages and get together occasions.
Those who celebrate feel happy only if we eat calorie rich foods. Some kind of understanding ahs to come from us in not forcing others to eat and respect their resolve to keep fit.

Years back the habit of physical work was built in the daily life like ‘pradakshinam’ of temple praharams, shopping for vegetables and visiting hills and temples on them. Today we have developed the habit of mindless eating of fast foods and calorie rich foods and are forced to walk or do exercise.

In the end it all comes to my health and my decision and I need to be selfish in this! So I must refuse the food that will affect my health in my home or outside.

Leaving worry to God

As children bring their broken toys
with tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams to God
because He was my friend.
But then instead of leaving Him
in peace to work alone,
I hung around and tried to help
with ways that were my own.
At last I snatched them back and cried:
“How can you be so slow?”

“My child,” He said,
“What could I do… you never did let go”

Kindness and Pain

These words of Khaleel Gibran will make me start a good day.
Kindness:
You are good when you walk to your
goal firmly and with bold steps.
Yet you are not evil when you go thither limping.
Even those who limp go not backward.
But you who are strong and swift, see
that you do not limp before the lame,
deeming it kindness.
===========
Pain:
AND a woman spoke, saying, Tell us of Pain.
And he said:
Your pain is the breaking of the shell
that encloses your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must
break, that its heart may stand in the
sun, so must you know pain.
And could you keep your heart in
wonder at the daily miracles of your life,
your pain would not seem less wondrous
than your joy;

Me and the American President

The speech might have given hopes to many Americans. They need to be soothed by the words of man who was elected to solve all kinds of problems. An average American dreams and creates products for the World to use productively or destroy. He enjoys the freedom and pride that America as a nation was born from the idea to revolt against domination by people from far away Britain, their way governing and ideas. This freedom has given them to choose what they wanted to eat, dress, talk and earn.
The World War changed and extended this idea. Americans were not afraid of any war from within. They realized a need to strengthen them militarily, economically and push their idea of freedom expressed as Democracy into other nations. They are able to do it successfully.

The American president thus though appears the strongest man with a Messiah like appeal to politicians and economists, is a weak man. He must correct the wrongs for example economic crisis and cannot apply his wisdom nor the collective idea of capitalism as it is what caused the failure. He has the privileges of getting help from the most brilliant, efficient and practical men to solve a crisis. Yet he will be occupied by many appointments not of his choice. His time will be wasted on talking and answering. He will have no idea of real problems in China, India, Pakistan or Cuba. Even if he gets close to solving the problem, the World would have travelled very far away from him.

The most powerful man on Earth has no choice over his action. His actions were planned just to win in an election and people’s thoughts were forced on him. His actions would be result of complicated well programmed back-ends with lots of general protection faults, once visible.
He lost his freedom when he gave the first speech for his election.

The President thus has no control and freedom over his life and all his actions in private life would become public. I have a choice to be – I glance the headlines, choose to ignore him as he is boring. I have a more interesting and cheerful Life. I have a choice over food, sleep, talk and rest.

That’s OK

Sometimes I am faced with people who judge me wrong when I am right. I know I am talking on a subject with enough knowledge and emotion, but they think otherwise.
For example the subject is about a Tamil movie. The teens always love some good music and action. I also was like that when I watched Kamal, Rajini and loved Ilayaraja’s music. I enjoyed some movies like Rajini’s ‘Padikkadhavan’ and the song by Yesudoss “Oorai Therunjukitten”.

The Dhanush “Padikkdhavan” movie is also very nice and I like it. But people think I just say it for pleasing them! That’s OK. I like the movie!
