Amavasya Good Day
Today is Amavasya. The no-moon day is the Amavasya day. It is a very holy day for Hindus. We do ‘Tharpanam’, that is we remember our physically dead parents for three generations on both the Father and Mother side. It is included in the ‘Nitya Karma’ or the Daily Duties that a Hindu should follow. The Daily Karma includes ‘Three times Sandhya’ or the salutations to the Sun, the chanting of Gayathri Mantra and this is done with nothing in reward to the doer. All the rewards are offered back to the God with a mind that is free.
It is Kali Yuga and it is well known that all these Nitya Karmas will slowly lose its significance and will be questioned. There will be laziness and the science to question the very act of doing Karma. While I write this I pretty well know that I am not doing what I am told to do by my ancestors, who had good health and lived happily whatever their physical ailments.
What about me? I am enjoying the benefits of the Good done by my forefathers. I have stopped the pedalling of the Cycle. It runs for some time. How long will it run? It is with me and I must pedal, not for me, but for the peace and good of Earth and Our System.
