True cricket fans

The Modi affair is becoming bigger. The newspapers and TV channels have plenty of time and space for him. It is all because of the love for Cricket we Indians have. We have the money also. When the Rs 500/- ticket was sold for Rs. 1000/- in Chennai lots of people were ready to buy it. Even that was not available. So much for seeing Cricket Twenty-20 live!

I will watch Cricket till it is proved that matches are fixed for money. Even Kapil Dev was blamed and he cried. Then Vivian Richards came to the rescue of Kapil and said “If Kapil is blamed for anything involving playing only for money, then I am with him”. Such was the Cricket and I am sure even in modern days, players are Original and get money that is worth it. Else we cannot produce a Dhoni, Tendulkar, Harbhajan, Raina or Vijay. I am not omitting here the other players for no reason other than time.

Some people argue that Hanse, the South African player will decide only crucial player that too with minimum overs. That is not possible in Twenty-20 and if that happens, I will quit watching Cricket.

Power cut makes me write less

Today there will be power cut in my area from morning 9 am to evening 5 pm. I read this in the local Newspaper just now and started writing this. Only last week this happened and I went and complained to the local electricity office and they have all sorts of answers – technical and non technical. I am fortunate compared to the sufferings of people residing in cities other than Chennai.

One technical man from Electricity says that it is all due to old equipments like transformers and power loss. He says there is enough power but due to poor maintenance due to lack of proper equipments, this happens. Already the Tamilnadu Electricity Board is in heavy loss, but this has nothing to do with the power cuts that are being imposed now.

I have long felt that I need to develop my own power for my home and sure I thank the TNEB to motivate that now.

Minor error can be major

Joint Entrance Engineering is a yearly entrance exam for IIT and students prepare for it for years.

Look at the careless way the Madras professor T S Natarajan, organising chairman, JEE 2010, said. “There was a minor error in the order of printing of the subject headings in the ORS. This was noticed immediately after the start of the morning session. The students and parents are assured that appropriate corrective action would be taken during evaluation of the papers,”

While he did not elaborate on the proposed “corrective action,” a source said that “the best of the interests of students will be taken care of during evaluation even if students had marked answers for Mathematics or Physics in the ORS under the same subject names.”

An error in the order of printing of the subject headings in the question paper and Optical Response Sheet (ORS answer sheets) in the IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE 2010) caused panic and confusion among a cross-section of aspirants across the country for a few minutes in the morning session on Sunday.

In Paper I, the subject names Mathematics and Physics were swapped in the ORS, baffling students for a while. However, authorities at the IIT Madras, which is the organising centre for JEE 2010, passed on instructions to students across in all centres to ignore the printing mistake and continue to mark the answers in the ORS according to the question numbers (numbered continuously in a sequence) in the question paper.

I have never seen a single mistake in any of the books published by the countries like USA or England. That sure is the success story behind them.

Summer problems and age

There is always a positive side of summer. The Sun sure gives life to lot of lives, kills unwanted bacteria and maintains a balanced life on Earth. The biggest natural atomic reactor with Helium and Hydrogen performing fusion and fission is Sun. No doubt it is called God and Life giver.
But God can punish us at times and this is during summer! We want the Sun and yet we want it to be at a distance. Just as we want to do anything on Earth and get away with it. I am tired even as I type this because of the heat in Chennai. As I get older I feel the heat more!

I Love Ads

I have always loved Ads for their creativity and had posted several on this site. I have also picked up the best Ads of the year and put them at this site. But exhausting is the nature of the Advertisements in the IPL. They have gone from creativity to torture. Yes they really kill you on the over doing. As a result I have become automatic – rather my fingers keep the remote under control and I have not seen any Ads in this IPL. My friend the other day wanted to watch some Ads (I do not want to even mention the name of the company in the Ads here). But I insisted on keeping the TV in silent mode. This is the maximum damage to the Ads the IPL is doing!
