Ambimama - India

I do not feel myself burdened when I do not carry mobile phone. I do not have urgent business or calls to attend. I receive calls from my friends and family. I feel that generally people talk on the mobile for a long time on topics that are not useful. When they meet in person, they fail to have the same enthusiasm as they have when they talk on their phone!

I think of the solitude enjoyed by the great saints and the communication of theirs was simple and straight. They felt the importance of the time. They had love for us, and the need to talk what was relevant. They listened more and when they talked it was for our benefit. I feel keeping silent may be the best way to communicate but we have to talk to realize how far we have gone into Life to understand it.

Hundreds have died in North India due to cold waves. Here in Chennai also the temperature is low to 20 degrees centigrade. Yes for the North Indians and other people where snow is falling this might be nothing and a warm climate. But we chennaites do not put up fan and are suffering from winter illness. The morning walkers have covered their ears to protect themselves from the cold. I really wonder why these gadgets are required. The people who wear them look like thieves and I cannot smile or frown at them.

Though walking is good, it should not be nullified by eating things available outside in the evening and morning. And while walking, we should chant some good hymns mentally, not fixing headphones to bother us. Proper dress or no, shoes should be put compulsorily.

The more things I have, the more cleaning it requires. We have for middle class families in Chennai a minimum of telephone, computer, fridge, we hear music and watch TV. We have to keep the house and all these items clean and cannot afford to have a cleaning servant for all this.
Taken in the right spirit, we just keep it clean from dust. Say dust is allergy for some people. We keep wet clothes to keep the dust away. I just wonder if we do not clean the items, I fall into a lethargic attitude and this cannot be a welcome sign.

Today the fight is over! And it has been a good day. The boredom is there but there is no tension as was there yesterday. One has to come forward and say sorry for all that happened. I did not say sorry though! But I was very happy that the fight yesterday was over so soon.

The climate must have done the trick. It is a very happy one in Chennai. The global warming and the recent session concluded has enough warning for us. But the fast life we lead will not make us to listen to any kind of warning or threats. The leading people will warn us, but we may not realize the significance of the present crisis of climate change. Though we realize our lives depend on the changes in the climate, and want to do some good thing about it we are too lazy or dependent on political people. I feel only some miracle should happen to bring the change.

I must appreciate and recognize the work of others. This holds good first among my family members. It must come naturally if I find any work that goes to help others. When I lose the sense of appreciation I miss something in life. I have recently come across my relative praising my father (who died several years back) for his timely help in spite of his busy work. I felt happy when my father was praised.

I felt that my father had done wonders in social work, education being his main area. He has helped many people. I should carry on the work of praising others, especially my relatives who have all the time for working and helping others.
