Diwali Rains in Chennai different

Non-stop heavy showers in Madras! Though my Mumbai friend says it’s common to see rains there like this from June for three months. Rains to Chennai due to South west or North east winds are always weak. But every year during Diwali cyclones are a regular feature and rains in Chennai are different than the boring ones in Mumbai. It will rain when there is a test match or a political cause. India won the match in Mohali as there was no rain. The human chain for Tamils in Sri Lanka has been postponed due to rains.
We madrasis get damp and cold if there is a drizzle.  Think of the heavy pouring down! And my TV gone dead due to lightning!

Crowds on a shopping mood

ATM money stock has exhausted as the Banks are on a holiday spree. Still there is a huge crowd near Panagal Park and Ranganathan street. Did the people say 40 to 50 years ago did so much shopping? They had minimum Home Appliances and Luxury items. They were happy and healthy. We have all comfortable items with us and lead a Kingly Life. Sure a Raja did not have so much to choose from a variety of foods, cots, pillows, airconditioners and the big screen.

Though we enjoy the modern facilities, we have lost the need for taking rest and to bring back the happiness. But kids are always happy and they enjoy.

Mystery of the Human mind

Chennai is in a grip of fear due to a serial killer who has so far claimed 8 lives. All the victims are poor people who sleep on platforms or men who keep vigil at apartments. The killing pattern is same – hitting with stones on the head.

There have been many types of psychopaths around the world. They have given tough time for the Police. It is a mystery of the human mind, which is subtle and gets disturbed. In a rage, hatred for the human race the affected mind unleashes a backfire to create fear and panic.

In practical life a common man panics and creates traffic jams if there is a rumour that there will be petrol shortage. A landslide rumour is enough for the faithful devotees of God to create a stampede killing themselves.

A mad and impatient crowd, shopping for things available near their homes. The most unorganized human behaviour in the so called organized cities.

Man has become selfish, self-centered and impatient. He created his own problems and serial killers. A little awareness and prayer is the need of the hour.

Less awareness for Green Chennai

Cutting of Trees for better road transport has been a problem in Chennai for years. We Chennaites live in illusory world that Chennai is Green and only Government authorities are responsible. People and a common man in Chennai lack the basic attitude and Love for the plants. Recently with the increase of flats (on the Lakes of course) has further lowered the prospects of Green Chennai.

The people in Bangalore have a Love for keeping the Home and City Green. The climate is suitable or the climate became nice due to the planting and caring in Home of Roses, Thulasi, Shanbhagam flowers, Night Queens and a lot more. About a year back entire Bangalore agitated due to cutting of trees for Metro Rail in Bangalore.

I have been trying to raise only Thulasi in my flat in Chennai. I got many small plants from my relatives and friends. I got the best Natural manure with earthworms, delivered at my door. And it has worked wonders. But still that Love and awareness for Green Chennai is lacking in me too.

Today there had been power-cut and there was no power from 9 am to 6.15 p.m. With this kind of worries for water, power, potholes in the road, the hungry poor in temple and platforms, I should worry more about people and their Life in Urban Chennai than Chennai becoming Green or Singara Chennai.
